Required Items:
- Device's charger
- Laptop or computer
- iTunes downloaded on your laptop/computer (if using a Mac with macOS Catalina or later, use Finder instead)

1. Connect Your iPhone to Your Computer
- 1. Use your device's charger to connect it to your laptop or computer.
- 2. Ensure that iTunes (or Finder) is open on your computer.
3. Restore Your iPhone
Once your iPhone is in DFU mode, iTunes (or Finder) will display options to either Update or Update & Restore. Here’s what you should do:
- Update: This option will reinstall the operating system without erasing your data. It’s a good first step if you want to try to keep your data intact.
- Update & Restore: This option will reinstall the operating system and erase your data. Choose this if the Update option does not resolve the issue.
2. Enter DFU Mode
iPhone X, XR, XS, XS Max, 11, 11 Pro, 11 Pro Max, 12, 12 Mini, 12 Pro, 12 Pro Max, 13, 13 Mini, 13 Pro, 13 Pro Max, 14, 14 Plus, 14 Pro, 14 Pro Max, and later:
- 1. Quickly press and release the Volume Up button.
- 2. Quickly press and release the Volume Down button.
- 3. Press and hold the Side button until the screen goes black.
- 4. While holding the Side button, press and hold the Volume Down button for about 5 seconds.
- 5. Release the Side button but keep holding the Volume Down button for about 10 seconds until iTunes (or Finder) detects your iPhone in recovery mode.
iPhone 7/7 Plus:
- 1. Press and hold both the Volume Down button and the Sleep/Wake button simultaneously.
- 2. Keep holding both buttons until the screen goes black.
- 3. Release the Sleep/Wake button but keep holding the Volume Down button until iTunes (or Finder) detects your iPhone in recovery mode.
iPhone 6s and Earlier:
- 1. Press and hold both the Home button and the Sleep/Wake button simultaneously.
- 2. Keep holding both buttons until the screen goes black.
- 3. Release the Sleep/Wake button but keep holding the Home button until iTunes (or Finder) detects your iPhone in recovery mode.
